The homoerotic subtext between Holmes and Watson is SO BLATANT and KEY to their dynamic that it alone is the reason every single crime-fighting duo since ends up overly no-homoing to try to make up for how gay it is (Bad Boys, Point Break, Lethal Weapon) or keeping the subtext vague enough that everyone Could Be Bi (House, Hot Fuzz, Torchwood) or genderswapping and giving into the latent romance subplot so your two leads can make out (X-Files, Fringe, Castle).
