do you think that jake was really about to go help rosa but then on the way there he thought about amy and realized how hurt she’d be, even if he didn’t end up getting hurt and heroically saved the day, and that made him turn around because amy’s feelings, amy’s well-being is more important to him than anything, and he doesn’t want to be the gun-toting john mcclane type hero, he wants to be amy santiago’s hero, he wants to do things that would make her proud, make her happy, he wants to stay safe and out of harm’s way for her (and he would only be okay with doing stupid reckless things if it were the sort of stupid and reckless that made her laugh, or want to join in)
